Externally we are holding it all together but internally we are still creating stress turmoil
Our Stress patterns are hardwired into our nervous system as our default mode of meeting challenges, bumping into competing priorities and navigating value conflicts.
Stress is not always about a busy schedule but often gets triggered by our internal blocks of doubt, fear, insecurity, guilt and shame. This is what I refer to as “stewing in our soup.” We look like we have it all together on the outside, but inside we are a mess of stress.
It can be hard to recognize these people because they appear to be successful and holding it all together. Their cortisol, blood pressure, lab values and state of adrenal health don’t lie.
This is why reducing stress and managing stress are not a productive solution to our stress patterns. We stress about those things we care about. Getting rid of them to reduce our stress is not always desirable especially related to your kids, your partner or your career.
