Love Theory and Attitude Adjustment Techniques Can Bring Positive Change To All Areas Of Your Life

Any workout where a client moves from swift shallow breathing to deep slower breaths, is important for lung health and learned relaxation. Physically, it can enhance blood flow, relax nerves, and push important nutrients throughout your body. Body scanning requires systematically paying attention from feet to head progressing to areas of the body keenly noticing different bodily sensations. You bring consciousness to each and every specific area of the body, finding any aches, pains, stress, or discomfort by mentally examining yourself.

Shifting Your Attitude And Using Metta Meditation For Loving Kindness

Shamanic Techniques and Buddhist Practice

Metta Meditation For Loving Kindness

This technique does not take long to do, but is a very deep and effective meditation. Use virtuous words such as freedom, happiness, peace, love, kindness, prosperity, tenderness, wisdom, etc. Use words such as “be”, “find” or “experience.” For example: May I be free; May I find happiness; May I experience love; May I be love… You get the idea. Metta Meditation comes to us from Buddhist practices. It helps us generate virtues such as forgiveness, peace, compassion and loving kindness. The object is to be kind and loving to your self, a loved one, your real or perceived enemy and finally to project virtue toward anything that is more global (e.g. the oceans, suffering people in the world, the forests, etc.). Focus on whomever or whatever object your heart calls to you. You are the object of your meditation first. Secondly, use the slogans of someone’s name, an image of someone who has been kind to you or for whom you deeply care. Thirdly, if you feel comfortable, the next object of attention would be someone or something who has hurt you or triggered you in some way; a business deal that went south, an ex-lover, or someone who has abused you. (You do not have to do this if there are still strong emotional triggers. Use common sense, as this is about love and not intended to “stir the emotional pot.” (But sometimes emotional things arise. Be present.)

Shamanic Technique: How To “give-away” Your Negative Emotions

Sometimes you are feeling full of pent up negative energy such as resentment, frustration, self-pity or anger or you are ruminating over and over in your mind about a person of event that recently triggered you. It will create a negative impact from the stress these emotions will create when you are holding onto something emotionally. How you are able to shift your attitude about something in the moment can restore harmony and peace to your internal dialogue.

  • Go outside and connect with any tree that you feel drawn to. Walk around that tree three times clockwise and ask the tree if it is willing to work with you. You will hear or sense a clear yes or no.
  • Then connect with the tree by facing it and touching it. Speak out loud to the tree about the negative emotions you are feeling or the stress and worry that is overwhelming you. Or it may be about a person or event that has just triggered stress inside of you. So using the first person, present tense, say: “I give away the pain and stress that I feel about _________ (be specific). I GIVE IT AWAY NOW!” in a voice of power.
  • The tree can take your negative energy and give it out into the atmosphere for you so you are not holding onto it. This should shift your thoughts and your energy so you are not ruminating on the stressful person or event. Thank the tree for supporting you.
