Look into the Mirror.
When I’m totally honest with others, I risk rejection, abandonment and judgment. This is a very vulnerable place that takes a lot of courage to risk going there. But when I put my honesty out to others it provides them the opportunity to reflect back to me like a mirror that I’m looking into to see myself. I might not like what I see but at least I can see the truth or perhaps a different perspective. Or it may be that my perception is not based in reality until the truth is reflected back.
In any case, when I’m open to the truth I can see things from a new perspective. From that place I can actually open myself further and explore those experiences where I have been closed and not willing to engage before.
We may not fully see ourselves until we are willing to step into that vulnerable place of being so honest speaking our truth or our bottom line. When we are not honest and are hiding our truth from others, we settle for complacency and give up our autonomy and empowerment. This will negatively impact our ability to evolve and grow.
The decision to step into that vulnerable place of total honesty is our choice to exercise our free will and autonomy. But we must also be prepared to look into the mirror at what is reflected back….
